It is not surprising that we are still waiting! Our female Aya is continuing to tease us with increasing signs of labor. She is becoming more restless, heavily panting, and struggling to get comfortable. Outside of her temperature, she is indicating birth is coming soon with signs but no puppies yet. She has chosen her person (her momma Jessie), and despite having her whelping box, she rather follow momma around. Jessie is truly concerned that Aya will try having puppies in her bed as she is definitely a Momma's girl. Our Aussie, Jinx, and Aya's son, Nash, are never far from her. Nash is laying nearby keeping an eye on out on his mom while Jinx watches from the couch above.
As we celebrated Memorial Day Weekend, Aya surprised us yet again when we played corn hole. She would steal the bean bags from the boards and go over to the tall grass. Little did we know she had collected quite a few "puppies" aka bean bags and made her little nest.
We know the puppies are coming soon, so as a Kennel we are reviewing Puppy Culture (more on that later) and making sure our supplies are all ready to go. I think we are getting just as prepared as Aya!
